Anonymous asked: "There are not two sides to racism, there are oppressors and those being oppressed." Except when apparently the answer to racism is more racism. Making judgements based on race is racism, no matter who is on the receiving end, be they the oppressed or the oppressor. Look at the photo and notice the rag that was used to clean him up or that the guy on the right looks distressed. Do those two look like the type of people who had just beat up a man for being black?
Because the main part of this picture isn’t the bleeding black man, who it definitely looks like is being dragged. Would you have noticed the rag at first, did you examine every detail. Because I saw, after I’d been told the context, and I bet you did to.
What does a racist look like, do they always dress like a member of the KKK or do they get casual wear. Anyone can commit a hate crime, so yeah I guess I do.
Do not compare calling white people out on benefiting from oppression to actually being oppressed.
The point of the original post was that white people need to stop saying that racism is behind us, that it happen long ago and is over. Then it got derailed to be about how it wasn’t those two guys, they were heroes, see white people aren’t all bad. That man still got beaten half to death, it was just by different white people.
In a discussion of rape when men say ‘well not all men are like that’ people say you’re missing the point. This is the same thing.
Reverse racism doesn’t exist. Do not compare systematic oppression to having your feelings hurt.
